Engen Xtreme Team head to Zwartkops with Bonafede in their sights

Three rounds into the 2017 Sasol GTC Africa championship the Engen Xtreme Team are well placed to challenge for season’s honours. Ahead of Round Four at Zwartkops Raceway on Friday, 16 June, Engen Xtreme Team driver’s Simon Moss and Michael Stephen lie second and third respectively in the championship race.

Gennaro Bonafede of the Sasol GTC Racing Team leads the way with 239 points followed by Moss on 203 and reigning champion Stephen on 175.

Stephen’s impressive showing at Round Three in East London in May, where he won two races, catapulted him right up the standings following an indifferent start to his title defence.

“This is a nine-round championship for 2017,” says Engen Xtreme Team Principal, Terry Moss of Terry Moss Racing. “The Engen Xtreme Team is well on track to again dominate the national circuit with Simon showing tremendous progress this season. Michael has moved into high gear and I expect him to continue accelerating as the season progresses.”

Along with Stephen’s two race wins in East London, the Engen Xtreme Team also posted the fastest qualifying time and achieved the best lap time in each race. All of which bodes well for Zwartkops.
