Driving a Skoda Fabia S2000, South Africa’s Henk Lategan was in second overall on the Rally Waldviertel, after the first three stages. The event is the final round of the FIA European Championship and also a round of the Austrian rally championship.
Lategan was 1.4 seconds behind Alexey Lukyanek in a Ford Fiesta R5. The rally is being held over 13 stages on both gravel and asphalt. It is currently very wet on the stages.
The rally’s 13 stages will consist of 175km. It is being contested as part of the FIA European Championship over the 13 stages and the Austrian Championship over seven stages.
Some 70% of the rally stages are on gravel. Seven of the 13 stages are being contested today and the rest tomorrow.
