David Higgins twice broke his own Mt. Washington hillclimb record on his way to winning the latest round of the 2014 Rally America series, the Mt. Washington “Climb to the Clouds” in New Hampshire in the United States.

Higgins and co-driver Craig Drew in a 2014 Subaru WRX STI took the win ahead of Subaru teammates Travis Pastrana and Chrissie Beavis.

Dillon Van Way finished third in a 2013 Subaru WRX STI to win Super Production, and Andrew Comrie-Picard was fourth in a 2014 Fiesta ST to win the 2WD category.

Higgins clipped 0.3 off his own 2011 Climb to the Clouds record with a time of 6:11.24 on Heat 5 over the full 7.4 mile road, and then went still better with 6:09.09 on the final run:

“It was a great event and we put in a big effort for those few seconds. There is so much history here and it’s great to be a part of it again for Subaru. This was a big challenge this weekend as we had Pastrana and our old record staring us down. But Craig was perfect on the notes and Subaru gave me a car that was perfect.”

Once again, both Higgins brothers have broken their existing records in the space of few weeks. Mark set a new record for the Isle of Man TT course in a Subaru earlier this month: now David has done the same at Mt. Washington.
