Rally Portugal: Stage 6 disaster for Henk Lategan

The notorious rough stages on Rally Portugal caused a major problem for South Africans, Henk Lategan and Barry White. They broke a shock absorber on their Skoda Fabia S2000, seven kilometres into the stage and could not continue.

Their bad luck followed on stage 5 that was cancelled because of a forest fire that also prevented 33 cars from not being able to complete stage 2 this morning.

Lategan and White will enter the rally again under Rally2 rules. Stage 6 was the penultimate stage of the day so they will only get a penalty for the last stage of the day, stage 7.

Before the start of the rally it was said that it is one of the most difficult rounds on the World Rally Championship calender.

They were 23rd overall on stage 6  and 12th overall for class WRC2.

The rally consist of 16 stages and finishes on Sunday.
