Over 30 of South Africa’s fastest racing Volkswagens will make their way down to Port Elizabeth for the fourth round of the 2015 VW Challenge which takes place at the Aldo Scribante circuit on Saturday, 13 June. Nic Clarke (Central Technical Services Polo) and Zander Roos (Nathan’s Motorsport Polo) are tied at the head of the overall championship log with Gerhard Henning (Polo) just five points further back in third.
Last time out the class A battle was between Rory Atkinson (Comsol Polo) and Waldie Meintjies (Performance Masters / Marty’s Body & Spray Polo) in the opening race of the day after James Hurley’s (The Starter Pack Company Polo) gearbox cried enough. In the second race the three of them fought for the win and it is likely to be the same in Port Elizabeth although Devon Piazza-Musso (Piazza Motorsport Genie Racing Polo), Derrick Smalberger (Sabertek / Tyremart Beetle) and Iain Stevenson in the second Comsol Polo will be looking to join the party at the head of the field. The class B championship is developing into a two-way fight between Clarke and Henning. The chasing pack is led by Brad Hall (Piazza Motorsport Polo) with Darren Nathan (Nathan’s Motorsport Polo), Andy Gossman (Chamdor Veridot & Police Clearance Golf) and Andre Needham (Technicon Auto Spares Polo) not far behind. Zander Roos has a comfortable lead at the head of class C. Shaun Crous (X35 Energy Polo) is next on the log ahead of Henry van Vledder (Golf). Stuart Mack (Goldwagen JHB CBD & Wynberg Golf), who is not making the trip to Port Elizabeth, is in fourth place just a point ahead of Elke van Vledder (Golf) with Francois van Zyl (Jesus Saves Golf) a further point back. |
