Andries van der WaltComments Off on Power Stage win for Ogier – rally win for Latvala
The final stage of Rally Finland 2015 is the re-run of the 14.4km Myhinpää test that we saw this morning – only now being driven as the Power Stage, with up to three bonus points available for the fastest times.
Jari-Matti Latvala
It was Sebastien Ogier that took the full trio of points from this stage – Jari-Matti Latvala pushed hard but missed out by four tenths. However, it is of course enough for Latvala to take the rally win in his home event for the third time.
‘An amazing battle with Jari-Matti and this weekend has been fantastic. I loved it. Jari-Matti was so strong – well done to him. I have no problem to be beaten by Jari-Matti at home this weekend.’ commented the championship leader, Ogier.
Latvala meanwhile, was of course thrilled. ‘A fantastic victory!’ he commented. ‘I had a great drive all weekend. The greatest drive of my life.’ His time means that he missed out on those three points, but still gets two for the second fastest time.
Third quickest was Kris Meeke – 2.8 seconds down on Ogier but 1.3 seconds up on the rest of the field. ‘I always knew the pace was there, I need an extra half a percent to keep it together. When that happens it’ll be good.’ commented Meeke, looking back over a disappointing weekend due to an incident yesterday.
Ott Tanak, Mads Ostberg and Elfyn Evans complete the top six through the stage, with the crews now looking ahead to Rallye Deutschland. Our full rally summary will be live shortly.
