While Solberg is pursuing a possible return to the stages, development on his World RX car for next season – and the pursuit of commercial backing to run it – continues.
Solberg told AUTOSPORT: “I always said I would never say never when I was asked about going back to the World Rally Championship. Rallying is in my heart and always will be.
“I won’t be in round one, that’s pretty sure. But after that, who knows? I like Sweden and we did well there in the last couple of years!”
Co-driven by his wife Pernilla, Solberg has won Rally of Sweden Historic for the last two seasons – but he’s looking for a much quicker run through the Scandinavian stages in February.
“Things are happening,” said Solberg, “and, yes, maybe it is possible [to go back to the WRC].”
