MSA has announced that competitors Matthew Swanepoel and Jordan Pepper have been nominated as South Africa’s representatives to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Kelvin van der Linde and represent the country at the upcoming Sub-Sahara African selection event for the FIA Institute’s Young Driver Excellence Academy (YDEA).

This follows a rigorous application process in which 19 applicants between the ages of 17 and 23 were whittled down to a shortlist of five from which Matthew and Jordan were ultimately selected after being interviewed by a selection panel appointed by MSA.
Matthew was the initial candidate selected and, when a second place was made available to MSA by the FIA Institute, Jordan was chosen to fill this additional seat.
MSA CEO Adrian Scholtz, who was a member of the selection panel, said, “The panel was unanimous in its decision that Matthew and Jordan would be best placed to represent South Africa at the selection event.” He added, “We are confident that the maturity, confidence, professionalism and humility demonstrated by both competitors during their interviews, in addition to their unquestionable racing ability, will stand them in good stead in their bid to secure a place in the elite Academy that will be held during 2015”.
The Sub-Sahara African training and selection event for the YDEA will be hosted and organised by MSA on behalf of the FIA Institute from 21-24 September 2014.
