“We knew we had to give it everything we had this morning, and it was a truly fantastic fight with Sebastien,” Neuville said. “Nicolas and I send massive thanks to the whole Hyundai Motorsports team for giving us a great car this weekend. Without them we couldn’t have done this today.”
It was Hyundai Motorsports’ third win in the 2018 WRC season and the 10th in its history. With the win, Hyundai consolidated its No. 1 position in the manufacturers’ standings with 212 points, 28 points ahead of Team Ford.
Before Sunday’s victory, Hyundai Motorsports had already won five races in the 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) with its i30 N TCR, which is open for commercial sales.
“Motorsports is the stage for carmakers showcasing their technology and capacity,” a Hyundai Motor official said. “Hyundai Motor will continue enhance its presence in the world class races to showcase its technology.”
In March, Hyundai Motor established its High Performance Division by merging its existing high-performance vehicle business and the company’s motorsport arm Hyundai Motorsport GmbH. Hyundai said it did this to streamline its strategy, product planning, sales and marketing capabilities for high-performance vehicle operations globally.
“Now that the division has been established, we plan to maximize synergy between headquarters by applying experience and data collected in motorsport to our N high performance lineup, so our customers can enjoy the thrill of high-performance cars on the road,” the official said.
Currently, Hyundai’s N lineup includes the i30 N and the Veloster N.
