Breslau Poland Rally, LEG 2: Sunrise, Sunset and beyond

At 8.30 in the morning the participants of the Breslau Poland are lined up at the prestart ready to face the longest and hardest day of the entire rally. As expected, the teams were divided into two groups to face the two special stages of 85 and 84 km respectively.

As usual, following the long history of Breslau, the Drawsko military polygon has put vehicles, pilots and crews to the test, both in the Cross Country and in the Extreme category. Our heroes had to show all their skills as off-road warriors to complete the mission of reach the finish line.

If it had been a day like any other, after the 169 km of the day, the teams would have enjoyed a good night of rest in the camp. But nothing at Breslau goes as ordinary…  to close the day, the teams had to face another 80 km of night stage – rough terrain and complete darkness.

Even if it is a challenge to stay in race during the day, driving at night is on a whole other level of difficulty. Behind every curve, beyond every bump there is a pitfall and only the best drivers can manage it. We are proud to be able to say that our teams are among the best in Europe!

In the bike class, it’s Wesley Pittens (KTM, NLD) who dictate the tempo during the day, but lost all in the night. No, the leader in the overall is Arunas Gelazninkas (LTU, Husqvarna) who managed perfect and now is on top of the rankings. In th quad class it was Remigiusz Kuzy (CAN-AM) from Poland, who overtook his compatriot Daniel Pingwin to be the new leader in the rankings.

In the SSV class, it was Michal Szczurtec (Can-AM, POL_ who made the best time after the night stage and took the provisional crown, as the same did Dave Klaasen from Netherlands with his mighty Nissan Navara Proto.

In the Extreme category of Breslau Poland, Felix Muellenheim (Unimog, DEU) is the fastest on the muddy track, taking the leadership in the truck class. And same did Hardo Mere from Estonia within the x-cars rankings.

After the night stage it is time for a later and relaxed start. It is just a single selective section of 100kms before heading back to the camp. Why is that you might ask, well, it is time to change the scenery, the terrain, the sand and the tracks. The stage in this day will be for some a nightmare as it would be represented as an extended night stage due to having mechanical issues and late finish in the night, but nevertheless it would not be the Breslau if it was easy.

The extreme category will receive a special treatment as being in the area 2 days, most of the extreme zones are already driven, but we have prepared special surprises for them again that will make their journey from the start to the finish of the stage a day to remember.

Coming back to the camp, crews must pack and prepare for the transport to camp 2, heading 100 km to the east to the well-known “Lake camp” in Gwda Wielka where the last 2 days of the rally will take place.
