There were no real surprises for this year’s 12 Hours of Sebring, as the entry list was unveiled and a field of 47 cars are entered. There are 14 entries in the Prototype class, seven in the Prototype Challenge class, nine in the GT Le Mans class and 17 entries in GT Daytona.
In the Prototype class, seven of the entries are Daytona Prototypes, while six are LMP2s, in addition to the DeltaWing. The DP entries consist of two Corvettes from Action Express Racing, one Corvette from Wayne Taylor Racing and one Corvette from VisitFlorida.com.
Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates will have its No. 01 Ford Riley DP on hand, while BMW powered Rileys are entered from Fifty Plus Racing and Starworks Motorsport.
Of the six LMP2 entries, four of them are brand new cars, including Tequila Patron’s pair of HPD ARX-04b coupes, which have been busy at Sebring International Raceway the past two days testing.
A pair of Ligiers are entered, including Michael Shank’s No. 60 HPD Ligier JS P2 and the Judd powered No. 57 Ligier of Krohn Racing.
The DeltaWing will have its familiar No. 0 and the usual driving team of Memo Rojas, Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick.
Seven different teams are entered in the PC class, including the usual suspects, such as Starworks Motorsports, CORE autosport and PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports. Other entries are RSR Racing, BAR1 Motorsports, Performance Tech Motorsports and JDC/Miller Motorsports.
In the GT Le Mans class, Corvette Racing looks to build on its Daytona success and will have its pair of C7.Rs on hand, while BMW Team RLL will have its No. 24 and No. 25 Z4 GTEs. The BMWs will sport a new look to commemorate the team’s victory at Sebring 40 years ago.
Team Falken Tire will have its recognizable No. 17 Porsche 991 RSR on hand and Risi Competizione will have its always-dangerous No. 62 Ferrari F458 Italia entered.
Aston Martin has one Vantage V8 entered, while Porsche North America has a pair of 911 RSRs entered to round out the field.
The GTD field is the largest in the race with eight of the 17 entries in the class consisting of Porsche 911 GT Americas. Muehlner Motorsports has two entries, Alex Job Racing will have its familiar No. 22 in the field and the Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing No. 23 car will be on hand.
Park Place Motorsport, GB Autosport, Magnus Racing and Wright Motorsports round out the Porsche entries.
Flying Lizard Motorsports and Paul Miller Racing will both be competing in Audi R8s, while Ferrari will be represented by AF Corse and Scuderia Corsa.
Kevin Buckler’s TRG-AMR has two Aston Martin V12 Vantages on the entry list, while Turner Motorsport will carry the BMW banner with its BMW Z4.
Riley Motorsports, winners of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, has its pair of TI Automotive Dodge Viper SRTs entered. Cameron Lawrence, who won the TA2 class of Sunday’s FOAMETIX Trans Am 100 at Sebring International Raceway, will join Al Carter, Marc Goossens and Ben Keating behind the wheel of the No. 93 entry, while Keating, Jereon Bleekemolen and Sebastiaan Bleekemolen are listed as the drivers of the No. 33 entry.
Gates open Wednesday, March 18, and the race takes place Saturday, March 21.
