The Alfa Trofeo Racing Series will return to the Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday 25 July for the fifth round of the 2015 championship. The new sprint racing format is proving to be rather popular amongst the competitors, with the new classes giving everyone a fair chance of walking away with some silverware.

With the championship at the halfway point of the season a couple of the regular front runners have announced their intentions for the title chase. Despite having only run in a few events this season Gerrit Faling (GTV) tops the points table, albeit by only six points ahead of 2014 defending champion Anthony Theobald (Alfa Giulia).
Keagan Pottas (GTV) is a bit further behind the leaders and finds himself tied on points for third position with series newcomer Phillip Hendriks (Sprint). Kyle Viljoen (145) isn’t too far behind the pair either, while seasoned campaigner Ralph Kernes (Alfetta) shares sixth position with John Hendriks (Sud) as well.
Warren Ewart (GTV) currently lies in eighth position despite missing a few events, but he will have to worry about an on form Jose de Carvalho (155). Series stalwart Paul Griffin (Sud) will be looking for a bit more consistency to get himself back up into a challenging position too.
With at least half a dozen other competitors in the series, a fun filled day with plenty of action is expected by all.
