At the end of stage 5 on the Sasol Rally, Leeroy Poulter and Giniel de Villiers, both in Toyota Gazoo Racing Toyota Yaris cars, were bstill leading the 25th edition of the Sasol Rally that started in Sabie this morning. With one stage left for the day the pair will go to the overnight stop with a comfortable lead.

According to the  “Unofficial overall classification” issued from Rally Headquarters, Poulter was leading the event with a total time of 1:19:56.4. De Villiers was second 26.4 seconds behind Poulter.

Third overall was Namibian Wilro Dippenaar in a Toyota Yaris 1:45.7 behind Poulter.

Fourth position was taken in by the current S1600 champion Guy Botterill in a Toyota Etios R2 7:33.4 behind followed by Richard Leeke in a Ford Fiesta R2 +7:58.5 behind the leader.

Sixth was Paulus Franken in a Volkswagen Polo 10:26.2 behind Poluter.

The first African Rally Compet5itor, Muna Singh from Zambia’s in a Subaru Impreza was 9th and Don Smith in another Subari Impreza was 18:12.8 behind the leader

The first day has been a tough one on the competitors with 18 of the 27 cars that started in Sabie this morning still running. The day finishes in Sabie tonight and will restart there again tomorrow.
