The second round of the 2015 DEOD SuperGP Champions Trophy will take place at the Zwartkops circuit, west of Pretoria, on Sunday, 12 April.Champion Clint Seller (NeoLife Africa Racing) got the defence of his title off to the perfect start at the opening round at Phakisa, continuing his dominance of SuperPole and winning both races.  A change of machinery might give his rivals a chance to narrow the gap though, the team has now switched to Yamaha and Seller will be making his first appearance on the new R1M at Zwartkops. Lance Isaacs was happy with his first outing on the new Black Swan BMW S1000RR at Phakisa but will be looking to be closer to the head of the field now the team have had a chance to get a better understanding of the new bike. Brent Harran showed some genuine pace at the opening round on his Kawasaki ZX10 but a first race crash spoilt his chance of a good result. He will be looking to rectify this at Zwartkops. Nicholas Kershaw (Tsunami Beach Bar BMW S1000RR) was crowned rookie of the day in his first outing in the litre class at Phakisa. Second place in the first race and fourth place in race two showed that he will be a serious threat to the established order. The other NeoLife Africa Racing rider, defending Super600 Champion Steven Odendaal, also had a great start to his season at Phakisa, taking both race wins by a comfortable margin. He has also made the switch to Yamaha and will be out on his new R6 at Zwartkops. Two of his closest challengers at the opening round, Adolf Boshoff (Toy Store / Indy Oil Kawasaki ZX6) and Allan-jon Venter (Triumph 675) made things a bit easier for him when they collided in the second race. Blaze Baker (Russell Wood Kawasaki) and Michael White (Consortium Shipping Kawasaki ZX6) should also be up with the leaders as should Nicole van Aswegen who had her best outing on her Triumph at the opening round. The SuperJunior category, where all of the riders are mounted on identical KTM RC390 machines, is being led by William Friend after both of his main rivals, Cameron Aitken and Dorren Loureiro had falls at Phakisa. Loca Coccioni was the quickest of the midfield pack with Dominic Doyle and Jenna Eekhout not far behind. Beau Levey (Motos KTM RC8) could have more competition in the SuperM category at Zwartkops. He leads the early stages of the title race from Jannie Moll (Motos KTM RC8) and Neil van Loggerenberg (KTM RC8). |
