But the Polish driver fought back and started testing F1 cars again. This year, he returned to a race seat with Williams. But this season has not been easy. The Williams car has been off the pace, and Kubica has been outqualified at every event by his rookie teammate George Russell.
So it’s not totally shocking to hear that Kubica will be stepping away from Williams at the end of the season.
And while it hasn’t been said directly, this will likely mark the end of Kubica’s F1 career. The driver hasn’t performed at a level that has impressed other teams, and rumors are out there that he will be running in DTM next year with Audi.
