The team Acciona 100% EcoPowered is the first ever entry with an electric vehicle that made it to the finish of the Dakar Rally.
Driver Ariel Jaton and co-driver German Rolon completed the journey in 111 hours.
The team managed to overcome the extreme weather conditions over Bolivia and northern Argentina that caused several stages to be shortened and cancelled.
The team was classified 53rd.
The vehicle’s package consists of 250 kW power — equivalent to a 340 horsepower combustion engine — thanks to a powertrain comprising a synchronous electric motor, six fast-charging on-board batteries and a backup instrumentation power system driven by a high-performance rooftop solar panel with a rated capacity of 100W.
It has been upgraded for this Dakar rally with a chassis re-design, lighter batteries, a six-gear sequential gearbox and enhanced 4-wheel traction.
