Two-time WRC2 champion Nasser Al-Attiyah will not defend his title in 2016, instead opting to concentrate on preparations for the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.The 45-year-old won his first WRC2 title in 2014 and defended it this year, winning three rallies along the way.

However, the Qatari – a bronze medalist in the 2012 London Summer Games in clay pigeon shooting – has made his Olympics campaign a priority for next year.
While speaking to Motorsport.com, Al-Attiyah’s source confirmed the Qatari driver will still be active in motorsport in 2016 – and is expected to take part in a World Rallycross rounds.
He will also compete in the Dakar Rally, the Silk Way, the Middle East Rally Championship and the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup.
