-You had to change two wheels, how were those moments?
– They were not punctures, but they desllantaban the two tires. We also changed an arm of the suspension because we noticed that the car was going weird and little by little we made kilometers to reach the finish line. In the second half of the stage, the car was already one hundred percent, but was neutralized due to problems in the race. Better for us also to have a little more time now and wait for the assistance truck and try to put the windshield.
-Especially bad luck losing the glass in a seemingly innocent overturn.
-No, I think it was very good luck. I know it’s the news of the day, there were a thousand people waiting in each place … We have been lucky, I go 14th in the first general Dakar, it has been only a small setback in which we lost a few minutes, but it is the tonic of the Dakar. Others have not finished, we have seen Rome fixing the car … These are things that happen and we are very lucky to be here in the closed park. I am sorry that they are not the statements that you want to hear, but I am quite happy with the day.
– Have you seen the images?
-Yes, and also those of others. I am very lucky to stay here, to be in such a tough race. We do not give up, we have not come for a walk, but to try to win stages, it is what we like to do.
– It was a dangerous zone the one of the beginning?
-Not at all. I came out strong because today was a day I wanted to win. I like to try things, you can fail, but do not stop trying. Today was one of those days.
