Asian Le Mans Series Opener, Entry Down To Just 8 Cars

The Asian Le Mans Series for 2014 promised growth in all classes but the reality is that for the first round that simply hasn’t emerged.The official entry for the race this weekend at Inje South Korea now numbers only 8 cars, a very disappointing total, and low enough that promises of other cars to come in future rounds raises the question of why the Series starts, as it did last year, at a circuit that it is clear that several teams do not want to compete at?

Certainly it is high time that we heard details from the Series management of solid plans to improve its sustainability. A PR tone that ignores the obvious shortcomings fools nobody, and raises further questions to boot!

DSC has always believed that there is potential for an ACO rules continental presence in Asia, but for that to be a long-term reality the organisation perhaps needs to think about new alliances. Eight cars simply isn’t good enough, and even the 15 for later in the season is hardly convincing.
