Binder calm amid MotoGp3 MADNESS

Brad Binder is keeping calm ahead of one of the most unpredictable Moto3 races on the calendar, the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider has spoken to Downforce Radio ahead of this weekend’s action and is prepared for another frenetic battle for victory as he defends a 24 point championship lead over Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Jorge Navarro.

Binder has been one of the breakout riders in 2016, claiming his first win in remarkable fashion at Jerez before repeating the feat at Le Mans, and the South African star is hoping to maintain the momentum in Italy.

“It feels pretty good”, he told #BikeLIVE’s Louis Suddaby and Andre Harrison. “I had a good start to the season and things lately have been going really well. At Mugello, I just want to try and stay focused, take it one day at a time and try and keep the ball rolling.”

With this weekend’s race likely to feature a frenzy of slipstreaming, Binder admits it is impossible to take a strategy into the Grand Prix but he is confident his relaxed approach will pay dividends.

“It’s a tricky one, this track is insane! Because the straights are so long, you tend to get such a big group up front in Moto3 that you can’t really plan for anything. Sometimes, you start the lap in first and end the lap in eighth and that happens to you with two laps to go, your game plan will have gone out of the window. I prefer to go out there, do my own thing and take it as it comes”.
