The Spanish Rider Laia Sanz confirmed recently that she will be at the start of the Dakar Rally in Lima on January 66th after her full recovery from a very serious health problem. Laia suffered a double infection of virus and bacteria.

The problems started on the spring of 2018, when the doctors detected one infectious mononucleosis caused by the Epstein-Barr.
In August the situation got serious, after when Laia contacted a Q-Fever caused by the bacteria Coxiella Burnetii.
Laia’s recovery process as long and hard, but thanks to her will, dedication and the care of the doctors, she will be able to be at the start of the rally on January for her 9th participation in a row.
“To me, this it is a sucess to be able to be at the starting line fully recovered, and without any pressure for the final result. From there who knows? I really suffered a lot, but i feel good for more than one week and i already started to do real training for the rally.”
