“For the last three years I’ve been extremely eager to compete in both classes,” Price said.
“I like a bit of a challenge and something new. We just need to wait and see if we can pull it off, which is the exciting part.”
The ‘King of the Desert’ is not the first man to compete in two different divisions — however he will become the first reigning champion to attempt the difficult feat.
While a first-up win in his maiden four-wheel event will be a tough ask, Price will take confidence into the event after success at the recent Stadium Truck Super Series.
“I won in my very first attempt in 2010, and have won four motorcycle categories, but this will make it a lot harder,” Price said.
Price has recently been training in Alice Springs, where he ran through the bike leg with his KTM Australia Factory team.
“I’ve just got back from Alice Springs and was doing some testing on two wheels,” he said.
“I have a similar setup to last year and it feels comfortable, we should be able to go well.”
The reigning champion has been suffering from a back injury in the lead up to the race, but is confident he will be able to compete at his full potential come June 10.
“My back has been good and everything has been going really well,” he said.
“I still have a little pain, but nothing is progressing and getting worse, so that is the main thing, so I’m comfortable.”
If Price is able to claim his fifth two-wheel race, he will match Randall Gregory’s record of five titles won in succession from 1991-1995.
