18-year-old Billy Monger has defied all odds to finish third in the opening race of the British F3 Championship at Oulton Park.Monger had both his legs amputated last year following a serious crash.

He is able to drive using a special Tatuus Cosworth car, fitted with a throttle on its steering wheel. Monger is also able to brake using a single pedal that is accessible to his prosthetic leg.
“It’s a bit surreal but an awesome feeling to even be back,” Monger said.
“If you had told me that I’d have been on the podium first race of the year, I would have probably said you were lying to me.”
Monger was racing in the Formula 4 last year when he was involved in a crash that nearly claimed him at Donnington Park.
Linus Lundqvist eventually won the race with Nicolai Kjaergaard and Monger rounding out the rest of the podium.
