Fisichella, 45, raced full-time in the WEC for Ferrari’s factory GTE team, AF Corse, in 2012 and 2013, and has raced at Le Mans every year since 2010, with his last two appearances being with the US-based Risi Competizione squad.
The former Ferrari, Renault and Benetton F1 driver will now return to the WEC in 2018 in the GTE-Am class, linking up with the Swiss-based Spirit of Race team where he will race alongside the returning Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci.
“I am really excited to be joining Thomas, Francesco and the whole Spirit of Race family,” Fisichella said.
“The FIA WEC is one of the most thrilling and competitive series in the world and I’m very much looking forward to a successful season in this strong team.
Fisichella will make his first appearance for Spirit of Race in the WEC ‘super season’ opening round at Spa on May 5.
