With less than six weeks to go before the 2019 Festival of Speed, Goodwood has announced the first batch of star names who will be appearing on the event’s famed 1.16-mile hillclimb in the cars that helped make them famous.
Leading the way is “Mr Le Mans” Tom Kristensen, who has won the French 24-hour race a record nine times (six of them consecutively).

He will be joined by two-time World Rallycross champion and 2003 World Rally Champion Petter Solberg, while Ken Block will be cremating tyres galore as he serves up his own brand of automotive mayhem.
Appropriately during Isle of Man TT week, many of the stars are two-wheel legends. They include 15-time World Champion Giacomo Agostini aboard one of his classic MV Agusta bikes, with his modern day counterpart, Casey Stoner, a two-time MotoGP champion, also taking part.
Meanwhile, TT stars Brit John McGuinness and Jenny Tinmouth will join the grid. McGuinness is a 23-time Isle of Man TT winner while Tinmouth is the fastest woman – the around the fearsome Isle of Man TT course.

Also expect a variety of Aston Martin racing cars, while the Supercar Run will feature several of the brand’s current range of road cars. One of the classes to feature in the Cartier ‘Style et Luxe’ display of top-notch classic cars will be the Aston Martin V8, which made its debut 50 years ago.

This year marks not only Schumacher’s 50th birthday, but also the 25th anniversary of the first of his seven Formula 1 World Championships.
As well as featuring other great drivers and cars from the car’s earliest days to contemporary Formula One, Goodwood will be featuring a number of Stewart’s most famous cars on the event’s famed hillclimb course. The list will include the first car he ever raced, a Marcos Xylon Special, and the BRM P261 in which he took his first Grand Prix victory.
