The final round of the Inland Championship Roadshow will see this popular series head back to the Red Star Raceway on Saturday 12 November. With various championship titles still to be decided amongst the various categories the racing is expected to be closer than ever.
Newly crowned Bridgestone BMW Club Racing Series champion Julian Fameliaris (E36 328i Turbo) has been in unstoppable form all season. He will be looking to end the 2016 season on a high with a double race win certainly on his mind. His cousin Dino Fameliaris (E36 M3 Turbo) has secured second place in class A as well. The class B battle is far from over and will certainly be going down to the wire. Riaan Woest (E46 M3 GTR) has a narrow seven point lead over Rick Loureiro (E30 3.2 CSL). Jorge Estrela (E36 328i Turbo) is a solitary point ahead of Stefano Martinelli (E36 328i Turbo) and both are more than capable of grabbing valuable championship points.
Lorenzo Gaultieri (E36 328i) wrapped up the class C championship at the recent Kyalami event and will also be looking to end the season on a high. Mish-al Sing (E30 325is) is in a safe second but third place is still very much up for grabs, with Philip Smit (E46 M3), Craig Ball (E36 328i), Jimmy Tsimenoglou (E36 M3) and Shane Grobler (E36 328i) all in with a chance. Troy Cochran (E46 325ti) has all but sewn up the class D title and will be looking to stay ahead of Andy Smith (E36 318is Turbo) and Bevan Meyer (E36 325i). Mike Dodd (E36 318is) looks set to clinch class E.
Seef Fourie (Maxtrac / Denmar Steel) now holds a narrow lead in the Pro class of the action packed INEX Legends Championship. Divan Myburgh (Bamboo Racing) is not too far behind him with Shaun Nel (INEX Legends SA) closing in on the pair as well. Justin Robertson (Big Boss Auto) is one step closer to taking the 2016 Masters crown but will be looking to stay ahead of Steve Nel (INEX Legends SA) and Johan van de Venter (Autozone). Lonika Maartens (Maxtrac / Denmar Steel) also finds herself one step closer to clinching the Semi Pro title but she will still have to fend off attacks from Anro Stadler (Jentelle Racing) and Shjaell Nel (INEX Legends SA).
Clinton Bezuidenhout (Universal Health Care) has already secured the 2016 Young Lions title but the other drivers in the class are still looking to better their positions in the class. Altan Bouw (Big Boss Auto) is in a comfortable second place but will be under pressure from series newcomer Brenden Kotze (Big Boss Auto).
Championship leader Ben Morgenrood (Ford Mustang) will once again be under pressure from Mackie Adlem (Jaguar) and Devin Robertson (Chev Corvette) in the GTA class of the Big Boss Auto Super Saloon category. Willie Hepburn (Opel Rekord) is expected to lead the GT2 class ahead of JP Breedt (Nissan 300ZX) and WB van Niekerk (Tigra Spaceframe). Jody Vianna (Mazda RX8) has an unassailable lead in the GT3 but will be hoping for some more competition at this event. Adrian Dalton (VW Golf) is the man to beat in GT4 but he will need to keep an eye on Karel Stols (Mazda RX7) who has made good progress lately. Jimmy Tsimenglou (BMW M3) continues to lead the GT5 class but he can expect to be under some pressure from Amos Cockerham Snr (Spaceframe).
The Yokohama Modified Production Car category has grown in strength towards the end of the season – in particular the new class T category. George Economides (Golf 1 Turbo) currently leads the class ahead of Keagan Pottas (Honda CRX Turbo) and Warren Fenton (Honda Ballade Turbo). Jeff Langeveldt (Honda CRX) has opened up a comfortable lead in class A ahead of teammates Dirk Lawrence (Honda Ballade) and Brendan Hall (Honda CRX). Adrian Dalton (VW Golf) holds onto the class B point’s lead but has Giles Darroch (Golf 1) closing in on him as well. The class C battle is closer than ever with young Kalyn Miller (Ford Icon) mere points ahead of Kenny Darroch (VW Golf) and Morne Fullard (Golf 2). The SRA brigade can expect to see the likes of James Alexander (Nardini SP) and Mario Nardini (Nardini SP308) fighting for class honours.
The Midvaal Historics and Trofeo Challenge categories continue to produce some of the biggest fields in the Inland Championship. Brendan Parker (Datsun GX Coupe) leads the Midvaal Historics championship but will be under pressure from Jacques Mostert (Datsun). Peder Jensen (Datsun) continues to impress with Koos Louw (Mercedes Benz W123) being as consistent as ever. Paddy Venske (Toyota Corona) and Mossie Mostert (Datsun) still pose a great threat as well. John Hendriks (Alfa Sud) has a healthy lead in the Trofeo Challenge with Shaun Lamprecht (Alfa 33) further behind in second.
The Formula Monoposto series is also a close run affair with a number of contenders throughout the various classes looking to claim top honours. Michael Kernick (Formula Ford) tops the Overall championship table but is only six points clear of Steven Levin (Formula Vee). Leon Scholtz (Formula Vee) finds himself in third position but will have to worry about the likes of Didier Diedericks (Formula M), Jannie Geyser (Formula Vee) and John Maurien (Formula GTI) that are all in with a fighting chance.
The Silvercup brigade have also seen an increase in numbers and will be hoping to carry that through to this event. The 250 Superkarts will take to the short circuit in their final races for the season.
