McLaren Formula 1 star Jenson Button and his wife were the victims of a shocking burglary in the south of France during which it is believed they were gassed with anesthetic.During the F1 summer break, the 2009 World Champion was holidaying in a mansion in Saint Tropez when the burglary occurred.

Possessions totaling over $450,000 were stolen, including his wife Jessica Michibata’s engagement ring.
Police believe thieves pumped anesthetic gas into the air conditioning vents of the mansion
Button was staying in with a group of friends.
They reportedly awoke feeling groggy, before realizing that they’d been victims of a brazen robbery.
It is believed that the burglars stole the enagagement ring from the bedroom where Button and his wife lay unconscious.
A spokesman for Button said: “Two men broke into the property whilst they all slept and stole a number of items of jewellery including, most upsettingly, Jessica’s engagement ring.
“The police have indicated that this has become a growing problem in the region with perpetrators going so far as to gas their proposed victims through the air conditioning units before breaking in.”
Yesterday, Button had tweeted a photo of him cycling in the local mountains with close friend and former Force India F1 driver Paul di Resta.
