Nevertheless, if Chatthe wins, Chager will be out of the running for the title. Chager is yet to win any event this season but may have a consolation in KNRC Group ‘N’ , where he is currently leading the standings.
Chatthe, who is driving a R4 Evolution-X, leads both the KNRC and the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC). He leads the KNRC by 113.5 points; meaning that if he emerges the victor in Machakos, he will improve his tally to 138.5 points which Chager will not be able to surpass no matter what. Duncan, who has won one rally in Kajiado this season, has no choice but to finish in a strong position–that is if Chatthe wins.
Meanwhile, the ‘Rally Chicks’ Natasha Tundo and Chantal Louis Young will be the only all-ladies crew in Machakos Rally. The ‘Rally Chicks’ have entered a Subaru Impreza N10 and anticipate a good run in the Rallye Sports Club organised rally.
Natasha is among the three Tundos’ enlisted for the event which counts towards the sixth round of the Kenya National Rally Championship.
Natasha’s brother ‘Flash’ Tundo has entered an Evolution X which is a big leap from the Evo9 he drove in Eldoret. Group ‘S’ contender Murage Waigwa of ‘Bobo Rally Team’ will be navigated by another lady co-driver Tuta Mionki.
“Our aim is to sensitise the youth and young adults about this deadly disease called Cancer; ways of preventing, managing and treating it, hopefully to get a cancer free generation in Kenya,” said Tuta who previously navigated Victor Okundi of Mombasa.
Natasha, better known as Tash in rallying circles, was really excited about getting to try Flourspar out in last month’s Eldoret Rally.
“My biggest challenge is always trying to really compete against the men in my family. However I have a long way to go before that happens! So just making a name for myself in a man’s world is what I’d like to achieve first,” said Tash.
