Sparks are going to fly on Saturday when the Klipdale Rally, the first round of the Western Provincial Regional Rally Championship is held in the Klipdale area. The rally is being organised by the Cape Car and Motorcycle Club and sponsored by iKapa Reticulation & Flow.
The rally has attracted 23 entries and the entries include all the top rally crews in the Western Cape. Two crews from Namibia. They are Willem and Mandi Hugo and the father and son duo of Jacques and Leon Botha.
It is expected that it is going to be a close affairs with the Botha’s winning last weekend’s Hallspeed Northern Regions Rally by four seconds from Richard Leeke in a Ford Fiesta R2.
The Botha’s and Hugo’s, both in Subaru Impreza 2.0 cars will be up against the favourites for the event John Peiser in a similar car and Shuan Jones in a BMW325i. Jacques and Leon Botha
The Botha crew will be eager to repeat their win of the previous weekend. Leon Botha is a former Class N4 champion in a Subaru Impreza when they were a popular marque in South African rallies.
The rally will be decided over seven stages of 90km in total. It will start at 09:30 at the Klipdale Co-op some 20 kilometres from Riviersonderend and finish there again later the same afternoon.
