World Rally Championship contender Kris Meeke is all set to play a starring role at the ‘McRae Rally Challenge’ in May at Knockhill in Scotland.The Dungannon driver will take time out from a very busy FIA World Rally Championship schedule and the Citroen World Rally Team star has confirmed that he will attend the two-day festival commemorating Colin McRae and Derek Ringer’s world title victory 20 years ago.

“I am really excited about coming to Scotland for the McRae Rally Challenge at Knockhill, I have many happy memories of my time in Scotland, where I was given such a warm welcome by the McRae family and indeed the wider rallying fraternity,” said Meeke.
“Colin’s support, advice and encouragement played a huge part in the development of my early rallying career and gave me the opportunity to compete at the highest level. It will be great to be able to relax amongst friends in the build up to the WRC round in Portugalthe following weekend.”
However, Citroen UK have stated they will have a presence at the event and immediately after the McRae Challenge, Meeke will fly out to Portugal for the fifth round of the World Series the following weekend.
