Former Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica has tested a Formula E car at Donington Park on Tuesday, Motorsport.com revealed. It adds to speculation that the Pole will make a return to single-seater racing.
The test took place in secrecy at the British track that has been used for official pre-season testing. Kubica drove his first laps in six years in a single-seater last month when he stepped into a GP3 car during a private test. It was an experience the 32-year-old enjoyed at the time and the Formula E test seemed a suitable follow-up.
It might lead to a race appearance as two teams have vacancies this July. José María López, Sam Bird and Sébastien Buemi all have to skip the New York ePrix due to clashing commitments in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring.
DS Virgin and Renault e.dams are therefore the likely options.
