Kubica: things will get even better after Mexico

Round two was one of the highlights of his rally career so far.

“This was one of the best rallies for me,” said Kubica. “It’s a shame we had the [transmission] problem because without this we could have had a very nice – and unexpected result. Coming here for the second time after last year’s very negative experience, we could have been fourth or fifth fighting with [Ott] Tanak or even in front of him – that’s very good for us!”

Kubica’s Ford Fiesta RS WRC is now in Mexico ready for the start of round three – the first gravel round of the season. After the Leon-based event, the Italian-based team will make use of a six-week break before round four in Argentina.

Kubica added: “We still need to improve a few things and the time is very tight. After Mexico there will be a bit more time and we can try to improve the overall functionality of the thing.”

Rally Mexico starts from Guanajuato on Thursday March 5.
