The popular Liqui Moly Legends Racing Series will head down to the newly established Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone for the third round of the championship on Saturday, 2 May 2015. A healthy field of entries is expected to make the long trip down to this picturesque KwaZulu Natal circuit.
The start of the 2015 season has not quite been what everyone may have expected, with defending champion Devin Robertson (Pro) not having things all his own way. After a brace of solid performances at Kyalami a few weeks ago, Seef Fourie (Pro) currently tops the leader board heading into the third round. Divan Myburgh (Pro) is only ten points behind him however and is determined to get to the top of the points later at the next event. Llewellyn Myburgh (Pro) is not too far behind his cousin either and will be keen to score a few more podium results to catch up with the leaders.
Defending champion Robertson still finds himself in fourth position, but proved that he had lost none of his race winning flare at Kyalami. He is expected to be a major threat for overall victory in Port Shepstone. Franco di Matteo is the leading Master in the series and has moved up to fifth position after some good results at the previous event as well. Willie Erasmus (Pro) drops down one spot but is only ten points behind the experienced veteran.
Keagan Wessels (Semi-pro) continues to impress as the leading rookie in the series as is expected to claim a few more top six results. Clinton Bezuidenhout continues to dominate the Young Lions class and is showing up some of the more experienced drivers in the series as well. With more than a dozen other capable drivers in the series, race results are never cast in stone.
With the new circuit having to be learnt and adapted to by all the drivers, no one will have a clear advantage over anyone else at this event. And as proven at the last two events, experience doesn’t necessarily make you the best driver on the day either.
An exciting event is expected at the Dezzi Raceway with the tight and twisty nature of the circuit expected to suit the pocket rockets of this ever growing series.
