The Malmesbury Rally, second round of the Western Province Regional Rally Championship, takes place on 1 April and has attracted 29 entries. The event is organised by the Cape Peninsula Motorcycle and Car Club.

The rally will consist of six gravel stages and will start and end in Malmesbury next Saturday. The total stage distance is 80km. The Clerk of the Course in Daan Badenhorst. The start is at Toyota Malmesbury and the finish at the rugby Club.
It is expected that the competition is going to be fierce especially between the local competitors and the Namibian entrants. Three crews from Namibia has entered including the winner of the first round recently, Richard Slammert in a Toyota Run-X 2000.
They can expect some tough competition from the Subaru of Oswaldo Mendes. Allan Martin in his 4WD VW Polo will also travel from Namibia to compete.
Slammert won the first round of the WP Regional Rally Championship recently when the gearbox of the Subaru STi of the leaders, Jacques and Leon Botha, packed-up shortly before the end. They were aiming at a repeat victory after winning the Hallspeed Rally the previous weekend,
