Racing legend has yet to check out son Michael’s Formula E team in action

And last year Michael Andretti’s Andretti Autosport entered the FIA Formula E, an all-electric series. His famous father, racing legend Mario Andretti, can sometimes be seen around the Indy Series races with his son’s team and rightfully so. After all Mario has won races in Indy, including an Indy 500 and three Indy titles, along with wins in Formula 1 and even a NASCAR win.
However, one place he hasn’t been seen at is the Formula E races.
And Sunday we may have found out why. Mario was at Charlotte Motor Speedway being honored as the pace car driver for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup series Roval 400. Andretti was asked about the future of motorsports, especially when it comes to electric cars, which are quickly taking over the roads of America.
“Well I hate to be on a negative note on a day like today quite honestly,” Andretti said. “But I’m not…I gotta say it because it’s true, I’m not a great fan of the electric cars yet.”

“Quite honestly, my son has a team in Formula E and the owner of the series, Alejandro Agag, says to Michael, ‘Michael, sometime I would like to do an interview with your father’ and Michael said, ‘I don’t think you do’.
