Monster Energy Supercross Africa has announced that Motorsport South Africa (MSA) is on board as the official sanctioning body for the biggest Supercross event to be held locally to date, which will take place in the Loftus Versfeld rugby stadium on Saturday 01st November 2014.
The event will feature some of the best local and international riders, including the likes of Justin Hill and Darryn Durham, competing for a $50,000 prize purse on the spectacular international Supercross track to be built inside the stadium.
In addition to the Extreme Racing component, fans will also be treated to a special FMX (Freestyle Motocross) insert.
“It is fantastic for MSA to be involved with this prestigious Supercross event. Local motocross fans have been looking forward to the return of international racing to South African shores for some time and the Monster Energy-backed event at Loftus Versfeld promises to reward them with top class entertainment” said Adrian Scholtz, MSA’s CEO Operations.
Tickets for the event are now on sale through TicketPro (www.ticketpro.co.za) and range between R150 and R350.
Timed practice and 2 qualifying heats will kick off the event at 5pm, followed by a FMX show. A semi-final heat before the LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier) will see the highly competitive 40 rider field narrowed down to the top 20 riders for the final race, which will take place after sunset to allow for the full lights, pyrotechnics and racing show to reach a spectacular climax.
Other exciting activities, such as open pit areas and rider autograph sessions, will be available throughout the afternoon. A massive after party will then round off the event.
