Ogier fights back with fastest SS12 time

Rally Finland 2015’s SS12 is the first running of the 21.25km Jukojärvi test. It’s not a new stage, but there’s a new 7.6km opening section that’s been added to the usual layout. The final 13km are very quick, and with several hazards to look out for, it’s not one the drivers will want any mistakes on.

It was Sebastien Ogier that was able to complete the stage fastest, with a storming time of 9:55.3 – some 3.8 seconds faster than rally leader Jari-Matti Latvala, reducing his lead to 2.1 seconds. ‘These damp conditions are better for us, no road cleaning. I’m a bit more awake too.’

Latvala’s time is good enough for second fastest, a second clear of Kris Meeke’s third fastest time. ‘Seb did a brilliant drive. I felt the road was a bit slippery. I didn’t get the best performance – I didn’t last year here either.’ explained Jari-Matti.

Mads Ostberg, Ott Tanak and Robert Kubica complete the top six. Up next is a remote refuel, before the drivers head into Surkee, a 14.95km test which begins at 11:03 local time.
