The Oilibya Rally of Morocco has a new leader at the end of the fourth stage after the overnight leader. Carlos Sainz in the Peugeot 2008 DKR16, stopped on thye stage with mechanical problems. Nasser Al-Attiyah in a X-Raid Mini has taken the lead and is leading the rally from Yazeed Al-Rajhi in a Toyota Hi-Lux by 16′ 10″.
Third, also in a Toyota Hi-Lux was Vladimir Vasilev in a Toyota Hi-Lux, 19′ 24″ behind. Vasilev stands to lose his lead on the FIA Word Cross Country Cup as tomorrow’s stage will be the final stage of the competition.
At the time of writing it is not known what the problem with the Peugeot of Carlos Sainz is.
The winner of today’s stage was Yazeed Al-Rajhi in a Toyota Hi-Lux and he is now second overall behind Al-Attiyah, wiht the Russian, Vladimir Vasilev is third 19′ 40″ behind the Quatari.
In fourth is Giniel de Villiers +24′ 50″ in a Toyota Hi-Lux followed by his team mate. Leeroy Poulter in a similar but older version of the Hi-Lux +33′ 30″.
Former WRC driver, Mikko Hirvonen who is making his cross country debut on a X-Raid Mini is sixth +33′ 47″.
In the section for bikes the overnight leader, Joan Barreda, on a Honda crashed heavily 13km after the start of the stage. He was taken to the Marrakech Hospital and has withdraw from the event.
Sam Sunderland on a KTM is once again the leader on the bikes followed by another KTM rider, Pablo Quintanillo 10′ 46″ behind and Matthias Walkner also on a KTM 11′ 47″ behind. Quintanillo and Walkner were both first on the scene of Barreda’s crash and stopped to assist him.
Sebastien Loeb in the second of the Peugeot DKR cars, finished the stage in fourth today after all the problems that he has had on the first three stages.
The final stage tomorrow is around the sea port Agadir.
