The second strage of the 2016 Dakar between Villa Carlos Paz and Thelma Rio Hondo, the longest bof the 2016 Dakar has been shortened by half by the organisers. The total distance of the stage was 510km, but competitors will now complete the stage at CP 4 to guarantee their safety.
The heavy rains that have fallen in Argentina and Bolivia in recent days have wreaked havoc with the stage.
Yesterrday the organisers had no choice but to cancel the first stage as a result of the weather that would have made it impossible for the safety and medical helicopters to fly.
It has been a frustrating day for the competitors since the first stage is usually the one that gives you an idea how you vehicle shapes up against the opposition.
