Last month, Walker’s daughter, 16-year-old Meadow Walker, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche Cars North America (PCNA). The lawsuit alleged a history of instability for the Carrera GT and a number of design-related issues that led to the actor’s death. The lawsuit also alleged that the Porsche was traveling between 63 and 71 mph at the time of the accident.
PCNA, which is seeking to dismiss the lawsuit, has since filed court documents that lay the blame for Walker’s death on the actor himself. In the documents, Porsche alleges that the car Walker died in had been “abused and altered” as well as “misused and improperly maintained,” and that the risks “were open and obvious” and most importantly “known” to the late actor.
No specifics were mentioned though these will emerge if the lawsuit ends up in court. It’s thought the “improperly maintained” allegation made by Porsche mostly has to do with the age of the tires fitted to the car.
Kristine Rodas, the widow of the driver, also filed a lawsuit against Porsche a year ago claiming mechanical defects relating to the car. Porsche also denied those claims and the lawsuit is yet to go to court.
