The 12-time regional rally champion is the most successful driver in the history of motor sport in this region and will be back to defend the Jordan Rally that he won comfortably last year. “Jordan is a special place for me and I am looking forward to coming back once again,” said Al-Attiyah. Drivers have until April 19 to get their entries in and the signs are that there will be a strong regional and local flavour to the event.
A city centre location (to be confirmed) will deliver a high profile launch on the evening of May 5 with a special spectator event, followed by two days of tough driving through the Dead Sea and Jordan Valley areas. May 6 will see drivers tackle 10 special timed stages covering 115.5 competitive kilometres, while May 7 presents eight more tricky stages covering 105.54 kms. The event is to be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Faisal Al Hussein, the chairman of Jordan Motorsport which manages and organises motor sport in Jordan.
