The warmer conditions for the 2019 running of Rally Sweden lead to the tyres creating ruts in the road, essentially creating a gravel rally in places, which created difficulties for all the competitors.
The 2000 and 2002 champion had been considering a further outing in this year’s Rally Finland but has confirmed that will not be going ahead.
Asked by Autosport if he would consider competing again, Gronholm replied: “No, that’s enough now. No [Rally] Finland.”
Since his retirement at the end of 2007 Gronholm has made three appearances on the WRC stages, the latest of which being a belated 50th birthday present to himself.
He was unable to organise the outing in time for his half century and instead took to the Swedish stages in a Toyota Rally WRC a week after turning 51.
