The fourth and final day of Rally Mexico 2015 began with the longest stage of the rally, and the longest of the year in fact – Guanajuatito, measuring 55.82km. With the hazardous nature of the Mexican stages, today is as much about endurance as it is about speed.
 Many drivers today are taking things a little easier – getting home is important and with a big spread in overall times, there is only the battle for second place to watch. It was second place holder Mads Ostberg that took the stage win with a 35.26.5, increasing his lead over Mikkelsen to eight seconds. It’s still all to play for. ‘I had a spin at 45km.’ explained Mikkelsen. ‘I needed to reverse to get it going again. Also the dashboard display has stopped working. I can’t tell what gear I’m in, the engine temperature – nothing.’ Ogier was second fastest through the stage, still pushing hard despite being over a minute in the lead overall, with the aforementioned Mikkelsen third and Neuville fourth. A retirement yesterday for Latvala means that he’s out of contention overall, but still pushed for a fifth fastest time. ‘The most important thing for me is to take manufacturer’s points.’ He added. Meeke, Evans and Paddon round out the top eight. The remarkable story of the rally is Ott Tanak’s, who restarted again today despite having crashed his car into a lake on Friday.
