
The Estonian built a comfortable lead in Lapland’s frozen forests in the first two days and made no mistakes in the final leg to win the FIA World Rally Championship’s second round by 17.5sec in a Hyundai i20.
Twenty-year-old Kalle Rovanperä, driving a Toyota Yaris, fended off a charging Thierry Neuville to claim the best result of his career in second and grab the championship lead. Neuville finished 2.3sec adrift of the Finn in another i20.
Rovanperä won the final live TV Wolf Power Stage to collect five bonus points. Craig Breen was second in an i20 to claim four points, with Neuvlle taking three in third. Tänak scored two points in fourth with world champion Sébastien Ogier securing the final point in fifth in a Yaris.
