The rumble in the jungle

The first running of the newly sponsored YORK Rally organised by the SA Motorsport Club (SAM), and this year the second round of the SA National Rally Championship Series 2017, as well as the third round of the FIA African Rally Championship is being finalized and promise to be once again one of the biggest fuelled-up raves in the forests around Sabie, Graskop, White River and Nelspruit.

The YORK Rally is undoubtedly the most popular rally on the South African calendar for competitors as well as spectators. Although an event of this nature must inevitably produce disruption for the local communities, there is well deserved compensation in that extra revenue generated in the towns and the regions. Widespread television coverage of the event also provides the towns with exposure throughout South Africa and Africa.

The event will start in Sabie on Friday morning and will once again finish in Sabie on Saturday afternoon with novelty flyover spectator stage on the outskirts of Sabie. The approximately 210 kilometres will consist of gravel as well as tar stages. There is no reconnaissance of the tarmac stages. There will be recce runs on the Wednesday afternoon, 19 April and Thursday morning, 20 April and a shakedown stage on the Thursday afternoon, 20 April.

The rally will consist of 14 stages. The stages will include three super specials and four tar stages.

For the first time in many years the event will not finish in Nelspruit.

The Your  Rally will also form part of the Northern Regions Regional Rally Championship.
