Hyundai Paraguay supported driver Diego Dominguez made a strong start to his campaign in the national championship, as he took overall victory on the Rally de Santini (February 28-March 1).
Dominguez was third at the end of the opening day of stages. Four consecutive top times to start Saturday’s running moved him up to second and put him into position to pressure the overall leader. When they made a mistake Dominguez moved into the lead to claim victory for the i20 R5 and the Automotor Rally Team.
The squad has expanded their i20 R5 team to two cars for 2020, bringing in Fabrizio Zaldivar as driver for the second car. In second Zaldivar was ahead of his more experienced teammate at the half way point of the rally, and had the pace to earn a podium to mark his debut in the car. Sadly an accident forced him out of the event.
