Rea explains it had been key to maximise his opportunities over the opening two rounds with his rivals expected to come back stronger at other rounds but even he has been slightly surprised by his start to the season.
“The best start to a season ever in my career,” Rea said. “It is important to maximise these points when we can because it is how I built my championships in the past.
“Then we can win, make sure we win, and then we can try and consolidate. These four victories are nearly halfway to my win tally from last year already!
“It is a good start and I just feel comfortable on the bike. We took the bike set-up we had from Phillip Island to here and it just pretty much worked. That is unheard of, so I have a good bond with the bike.”
World Superbikes heads back to Europe in a few weeks for the Aragon round where Chaz Davies took a spectacular double victory last season and is fancied to be strong once again on the Aruba.it Racing Ducati.
With this in mind, Rea is determined to build on his momentum and is expecting number of updates from his factory squad to make further strides forward.
“There are still some areas we need to improve for the coming races but KHI are working hard on this,” he said. “We expect to improve the bike again in the next races.”
